General meeting Hamburg 2024

This time we travelled to Hamburg. With around 120 participants, we were able to listen to many exciting lectures and discussions and deepen our knowledge in workshops at the Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences at the University of Hamburg. On Friday and Sunday, we also had the opportunity to visit the neighbourhood practice on the Veddel.

And once again we can say that the syndicate is growing! This time we were able to welcome the following local groups: Hamburg, Berlin, Berlin 2.0, Leipzig, Dresden, Cologne, Lübeck, Bonn, Bochum-Hustadt, Tübingen, Jena, Freiburg, Marburg, Göttingen, Munich and Frankfurt.

Thematically, we focussed on the 5 goals of the Poliklinik Syndikat e.V. and placed particular emphasis on the transformation of society. Specifically, we dealt with the topic of socialisation, the noticeable shift to the right and how to deal with it.

On Friday evening, we welcomed Sabine Nuss (political scientist),Justus Henze (social economist/communia) and representatives of the Utopie AG of Poliklinik Syndikat e.V. as the basis for discussions in the plenary session. Sabine Nuss first gave us an impressive and informative insight into the theories and legal foundations of socialisation and various forms of ownership. Justus Henze then gave us an exciting presentation on the practical implementation efforts of the socialisation movement "Deutsche Wohnen & Co Enteignen" in Berlin. These insights formed a fruitful basis for discussing possible strategies and ideas of the Poliklinik Syndikat on socialisation.

On Saturday evening, Anton Jäger from Peter Weiß Hausgave us a very exciting keynote speech in which he presented perspectives on the current legal pressure and possible prospects for resistance that could also be important for the Syndikat.

On Saturday afternoon, seven different workshops were offered, in which we had the opportunity to discuss topics in depth and exchange ideas in small groups. The workshops were as wide-ranging as the topics and issues that we address in the syndicate and in the local groups. The following topics were covered in more detail: critical behavioural prevention in the district health centre, midwifery care and healthcare providers in the context of polyclinics, newbie workshop (what do new groups need), internal structures, racism and medicine as well as in-depth workshops with discussions on the presentations.

In addition to the content-related topics, the networking of the local groups was at the centre of the meeting. In addition to the discussions during the breaks and the end of the Saturday evening together, we got together on Sunday to exchange ideas on specific topics.

Once again, we realised how valuable and uplifting it is to come together at the meeting - especially in view of the social challenges we face, good networking, mutual support and joint strategies are of great importance for our daily work in the local groups.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank the people at the Veddel Polyclinic and all those who prepared this general meeting and filled it with content. We look forward to the next general meeting from 9-11 May 2024 in Göttingen.
